The Croods 3D

Voice Cast: Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Sanders, and others

Directors: Chris Sanders and Kirk De Micco

Year of Release 2013

Language: English

Rating: ***

The Croods is that one film that will get your eyes glued to the screen right from the opening sequence. Directors Chris Sanders and Kirk De Micco, quite effectively wrap the audience into their vision. So, you get to experience how people in Stone Age lived their life. This movie is reminiscent of the popular cartoon series – The Flintstones – due to the setting of the story. The movie also has an important lesson that is quite simply conveyed through this visually stunning representation .

Initially, I was quite apprehensive about the 3D quality of this movie. Most 3D movies nowadays are makeovers of traditional 2D images. But that wasn’t the case here. Not only is the 3D quality stunning, the usual strain on our eyes is also not present. The animation quality is also exquisite – especially for the action sequences. Comedy adds to further enjoyment. All the Cast members – Nicolas Cage as Grug, Emma Stone as Eep, and others have delivered their performance with great sincerity. A special mention must be made of Chris Sanders who voices the Belt and I say that literally! It will spoil your fun of watching that part if too much is revealed here.

I am going with 3 out of 5 for “The Croods”. DreamWorks Animation can now forget the debacle film “Rise of the Guardians”, and finally enjoy success with this movie. Don’t miss this family entertainer!
